During one week, foreign and Russian students had a chance to participate in cross-cultural events and get acquainted with the educational, scientific and other opportunities provided by the University of Tyumen.

The students visited the leading research and academic units: the School of Advanced Studies (SAS), the Polytechnic School and the Institute of Environmental and Agricultural Biology (X-BIO), where they learned more about education process and various training programs.

The program of the International Student Week included business games, workshops and sporting events. It ended with a big festival with a gala concert and tasting of national dishes.

“UTMN holds the festival for all comers. Among the participants are students of our universities and colleges, as well as other Tyumen citizens. They are eager to learn more about the culture and traditions of different countries,” said Irina Chelokhsayeva, UTMN student and organizer of the festival.

More than two thousand students from 39 different countries study at the University of Tyumen and more than 800 of them are full-time students. Adaptation to the new cultural environment begins in their first year. To help them adapt quicker, UTMN offers the “Buddy Program” and a team of tutors. There is also a curator of foreign students at every institute.

In 2018, UTMN launched the first Association of International Students (AIS) in the Tyumen Region. There also are Arabic, Latin American, Korean, Chinese and other national centers at UTMN.
