From Nov. 19-23, the All-Russian Student Olympiad in Theoretical Mechanics was held at Kazan State Power Engineering University. The overall team ranking was topped by the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.

The competition included a theoretical and a computer contest. In the theoretical round, MIPT student Vasily Yugov finished at No. 2, and the other three members of the Institute’s team were among the top 10 highest-scoring students. They are Andrey Uimin, Alexander Smirnov, and Ivan Ermakov, the latter performing out of competition. In the computer contest, the two-man team of Vasily Yugov and Ivan Ermakov came in first with 60 points out of 60.

A total of 106 students in 30 teams from Russian universities took part in the olympiad.

MIPT has repeatedly topped the overall team ranking, as well as placing first in the computer contest, at the All-Russian Student Olympiad in Theoretical Mechanics. Last year, Vasily Yugov was third in the individual ranking.
