Russia and Iran outline new stages in the development of scientific and educational co-operation

The Deputy Minister stressed that as of today there are 244 cooperation agreements between Russian and Iranian scientific and educational organisations. In 2023, universities of the two countries signed 82 new documents on cooperation in developing joint educational programmes, conducting scientific research, academic exchange, and promoting the study of the Russian language and culture. Another 34 agreements are planned to be signed this year.

In order to further develop scientific and educational partnership with Iran, the Russian Ministry of Education and Science is continuing its work to agree on an intergovernmental agreement on the recognition of education, qualifications and degrees. This will strengthen relations between the two states and ensure academic exchanges.

In the field of scientific co-operation, 15 joint three-year projects have been launched this year in the fields of materials science, life sciences and medical research. The work of scientists is supported by the Russian Science Foundation and the National Science Foundation of Iran. It is also planned this year to hold the first meeting of the Russian-Iranian Permanent Subcommission on Scientific and Technical Cooperation and a contest of joint scientific research.

‘Technological and scientific sovereignty is our common task and a common goal to which we aspire,’ confirmed Alireza Arafi.
