THE has announced the results of the Emerging Economies University Rankings spanning 43 countries across four continents. THE notes that Russia is the fourth most represented nation in the rankings, with 35 universities ranked - up from 27 previous year.

Universities-organizers of the Open Doors project claim eight of the top 100 positions of the THE Emerging Economies University Rankings: MIPT (12th), MEPhI (16th), HSE University (22th), TSU (49th), TPU (51th), ITMO University (53th), NSU (62th), and SPbPU (87th).

Top 300 of the THE Emerging Economies University Rankings includes Sechenov University, UrFU, and ETU “LETI”, which has entered this rankings for the first time. FEFU features in the top 400.

Some of universities have considerably improved their positions over the last year. RUDN University has risen from 251-300 band to the 117th position in the list with particular improvements across teaching, citations and international outlook. SPbPU (87th) scales up 18 positions with improvements to research, international outlook scores, citations and industry income pillars. HSE University climbs 10 places to joint 22nd, ITMO University rises from 57th to 53th and MEPhI has improved its position by 3 places.

THE Emerging Economies University Rankings 2018 comprises 450 universities from 43 countries classified by FTSE, as advanced emerging, secondary emerging or frontier. The list assesses universities across four continents including Brazil, China, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Pakistan, Poland, Qatar, etc. The ranking is based on the 13 performance indicators grouped into five areas: teaching (the learning environment), research (volume, income and reputation), citations (research influence), international outlook (staff, students and research), and industry income (knowledge transfer).
