About the University

Laboratories and research centers

The scientific research complex of St. Petersburg State Technical University "LETI" is an extensive network of more than 350 educational and scientific laboratories united in several large structural areas.

The scientific infrastructure of the university includes:

Research institutes: 5 research institutes, including the newly opened Institute of Power Electronics and Photonics, established to develop silicon carbide-based components under the Priority 2030 program.

Collective use centers and laboratories: Specialized centers such as the Scanning Microscopy Center on the NTEGRA NanoLab platform, as well as an anechoic chamber for antenna measurements and a circuit engineering laboratory.

Youth Research Institute (Molniya): A unit that carries out scientific research by young scientists, graduate students and students.

Technopark: Provides business services to 37 small innovative enterprises, where more than 200 teachers, students and graduate students work annually.

Engineering centers: For example, the Navigation and Motion Control Engineering Center, which includes a number of key departments.

Basic departments: 14 departments at specialized partner enterprises providing practical training for students.

Student activities

Extracurricular life at LETI is very intense and provides students with a huge number of opportunities for self-realization. The activities are divided into several main areas:

🎭 Creativity and self - expression
The university has a Creative Center that unites 11 groups, including KVN (stands for "the club of the cheerful and inventive"), theater, dance, vocal studios and even an academic choir. Students not only perform at university events, but also win city and national competitions.

, Sports and active recreation
Sports life is also very diverse. Students have access to football, basketball, volleyball, boxing, esports, as well as more unusual areas such as hiking, rock climbing and sailing.

Student government and support
Two main organizations play a key role in the life of the university:

The Student Council serves as a "bridge" between students and the administration, protects the interests of students, and organizes major events such as the LETI Student of the Year and Best Group Leader contests. Their mentoring practice entered the top 10 in Russia in 2025.

The Trade Union of Students and Postgraduates is the largest student organization. She organizes leisure activities (parties, excursions), protects students' rights, helps with finding internships and implementing projects.

Other features
In addition, the Student Mentorship project is actively working at LETI, where undergraduates help first-year students adapt. There is the ecoETU environmental club, and for those who want to pursue science and a career, there is the LETI Startups accelerator and the Career Development Center. Recently, a modern loft space "Delai!" was opened for students to work together and communicate.
