Rectors of Moscow universities offered to teach in a mixed format from November 8

The Council of Rectors of Moscow and Moscow region universities appealed to the universities with the recommendation to start teaching in a mixed format from November 8. The corresponding letter signed by its chairman, MIPT President Nikolai Kudryavtsev, posted on Friday, November 5, in his Facebook by Igor Remorenko, Rector of the Moscow City Pedagogical University (MSPU).

At the same time, students with confirmed antibodies or a negative PCR test for COVID-19 will be able to physically attend classes.

In addition, the document notes the need to intensify the "campaign to convince students to be vaccinated as soon as possible" to achieve collective immunity, as well as to organize an exchange of best practices for the organization of education in conditions of high risks of coronavirus infection.

As is clear from the letter, the decision was made after the November 3 meeting of the council, which was devoted to methods of counteracting the spread of COVID-19 among students. The head of Rospotrebnadzor department in Moscow Elena Andreeva, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Education and Science Dmitry Afanasyev, and Igor Remorenko spoke at it.

The next meeting of Moscow and Moscow region rectors body was recommended to hold in "about 10 days" with the analysis of the situation and measures taken.

Earlier, on November 3, the Council of Moscow and Moscow region universities' rectors agreed to conduct an experiment on implementation of QR codes to visit the universities. As the chairman of the Council Nikolay Kudryavtsev noted, the universities have a high degree of authority and autonomy in deciding these issues.
