The University of Nizhny Novgorod hosted a concert titled “People of the World with Songs of Peace.” The event was organized by participants in the “ICare – Ican!” social initiative program for international students and activists from the UNN International Student Club, with support from the university’s Office for International Student Affairs. Students from Algeria, Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Congo, Cameroon, Iran, Nigeria, Peru, Tanzania, Tunisia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ecuador, Syria, and Russia took part in the concert. The event featured songs about peace, national dances, and classical world music. A special place in the program was reserved for the theme of remembrance of the Great Patriotic War: a student from Uzbekistan performed the song “Victory Day.”

“Music and art are what have always brought people together and continue to do so. Through music, people speak the universal language of harmony and universal human values; at the same time, through art, progressive humanity sends a message to present and future generations that only in an atmosphere of peace and mutual understanding can humanity survive and continue its development, for as one of the classics said “Wherever you hear a song, seek refuge—bad people do not sing songs!” noted Dmitry Medvedev, head of the International Student Support Department at the Office for International Student Affairs.
