SPbPU and Nanjing University of Science and Technology Strengthen Their Partnership

A delegation from Nanjing University of Science and Technology visited Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University to develop a partnership between the two universities.

The Chinese delegation was welcomed by representatives of the International Education Office at St. Petersburg Polytechnic University: Tatyana Sytnikova, Deputy Head of the International Education Office, and Olga Emelyanova, Head of the Department of International Educational Programs and Academic Mobility.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the current status and prospects of joint projects. Particular attention was paid to expanding academic mobility and launching new educational programs. Tatyana Sytnikova noted the high level of training among Chinese students and expressed readiness to further deepen cooperation in the fields of engineering and digital technologies.

Colleagues from Nanjing met with Chinese undergraduate and graduate students studying at the Polytechnic University. The young scholars shared their experiences and academic achievements.

The guests also toured the laboratory facilities of the Graduate School of Cyber-Physical Systems Management and spoke highly of the equipment at the university’s centers and the research potential of SPbPU.

At the same time, at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Materials, and Transport at St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, students from Nanjing University underwent intensive training as part of the international English-language general education program “Advanced Materials Processing Technologies.” Participants attended a series of lectures and seminars on modern CAD/CAM/CAE systems in mechanical engineering, the fundamentals of friction stir welding, electric arc deposition technology, methods for measuring surface roughness, as well as physical and mathematical modeling. The practical part of the program included a visit to SPbPU’s state-of-the-art laboratory for lightweight materials and structures.

We are very pleased that our educational collaboration with Nanjing University of Science and Technology is developing successfully. Every year, we develop new projects and areas for collaboration. The combination of modern technologies, practical training, and the scientific infrastructure of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University attracts students from Nanjing to both joint bachelor’s programs and short-term internships and summer schools. And this, of course, lays an important foundation for future joint master’s programs and research projects, which we are currently negotiating,” commented Olga Emelyanova, Head of the Department of International Educational Programs and Academic Mobility at SPbPU.

Following the visit and the organized program, the universities reaffirmed their intention to expand bilateral cooperation, develop joint master’s programs and research initiatives, and increase academic exchanges of students and faculty.
