The latest issue of the QS World University Rankings for 2027 has been published. Ural Federal University has improved its position, moving from 519th to 504th place on the global list. Among Russian universities, UrFU moved from tenth to eighth place. At the same time, the university demonstrated one of the best dynamics among domestic institutions: out of the top 20 Russian participants in the ranking, only six were able to improve their positions.
Three key parameters served as the drivers of growth. The most impressive breakthrough was made in the “Reputation among Employers” category. Here, UrFU gained 175 positions in the world ranking, rising from 544th to 369th. This indicator reflects the assessment of graduates by real businesses.
The second factor is international scientific cooperation. In this area, UrFU ranks first in Russia and 157th in the world, having improved by one position compared to last year’s results.
The improvement in the quality of the educational process has also led to positive dynamics, which confirms the effectiveness of the updated programs and the educational model as a whole.
“Strengthening our positions in the QS ranking is a natural result of the systematic restructuring of our cooperation with industrial partners. We purposefully integrate employers’ requirements into the research agenda and educational programs, which has led to a significant increase in our reputation among employers. This rapid ascent indicates a growing demand for Ural Federal University graduates and their competencies on the global labor market,” says Vladimir Kruzhaev, UrFU’s First Deputy Vice‑Rector for Research.
