Plekhanov Russian University of Economics (PRUE) has confirmed its standing among Russian universities in the field of artificial intelligence, receiving high marks for the quality of specialist training. The results of the ranking, developed by the AI Alliance, were presented at the conference "AI Transformation of Higher Education: Competency Map, Growth Trajectories and Case Studies," held at Sber's venue.
For Plekhanov University, this achievement is a natural outcome of systematic work to advance one of the country's priority areas of technological development. PRUE operates a Centre for Advanced Research in Artificial Intelligence, which conducts fundamental and applied research, develops a scientific school in explainable AI, and integrates artificial intelligence technologies into the educational process. The university is also developing its own neural network, Plekhanov 1.0, and conducts research at the Educational and Scientific Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence, Neurotechnology and Business Analytics.
"It is important not only to train specialists who are proficient in modern technologies, but also to create conditions for conducting research, developing proprietary solutions, and applying them in practice. Consistent work in these areas allows Plekhanov University to strengthen its position among leading universities that are building the human capital and scientific foundation of Russia's AI sector," said Ivan Lobanov, Rector of Plekhanov University.
A separate area of focus is training personnel for the AI industry. The university has established an Educational Centre in the Field of Artificial Intelligence to train students through programmes designed for top‑tier specialists. One of the key educational programmes – "Artificial Intelligence Systems and Technologies" – has been developed in close collaboration with industry and IT partners.
