The University of Tyumen has announced the results of the competition for the scholarship named after Vladislav Kvasov, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Tyumen (consular district: Tyumen Region).Three University of Tyumen students received awards following the selection process. The scholarship is funded personally by the Honorary Consul and is intended to support talented students from Kazakhstan pursuing their studies at the university. The competition was open to University of Tyumen students who are citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan. As First Vice-Rector Andrey Tolstikov noted, the university currently has 1,087 students from Kazakhstan, making the competition particularly competitive.
“The main focus of our international activities is cooperation with friendly countries, primarily the CIS member states. Russia and Kazakhstan have been developing a shared scientific and educational space for many years. The establishment of this scholarship is a natural continuation of these efforts, helping to strengthen educational and scientific ties between our countries and support talented students,” Andrey Tolstikov emphasized.
In selecting the winners, the panel assessed candidates’ academic performance, as well as their achievements in research, academic activities, and volunteering. Darya Plisova, a second-year undergraduate student at the School of Natural Sciences, received the first-degree diploma. Alina Krivets, a master’s student at the School of Computer Science, took second place. Gleb Plisov, a second-year undergraduate student at the School of Natural Sciences, was awarded third place.
The award ceremony was attended by Alexey Rayder, Deputy Governor of the Tyumen Region. He highlighted the importance of Vladislav Kvasov’s initiative to support talented students and thanked the Honorary Consul for his contribution to the development of educational cooperation.
Vladislav Kvasov noted that education and science are driving forces behind civilization.
“Many young people from Kazakhstan pursue their education abroad, and a significant proportion of them choose Russian universities. This helps strengthen relations between our countries. Personal connections formed through studying and communicating with one another make our alliance even stronger.
“I would therefore encourage honorary consuls of foreign countries represented in the region, as well as business and organizational leaders in the Tyumen Region, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area – Yugra, and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area to establish similar scholarships.”
In his view, such initiatives help support and motivate talented students, both Russian and international.
“I wish you continued success in your studies, research, and community engagement,” Vladislav Kvasov said, addressing the students.
