University of Tyumen has welcomed its first student from Soongsil University, located in the Republic of Korea, as part of the international academic exchange program “Semester at UTMN”. University, based in Seoul, is widely regarded as one of the leading institutions in the Republic of Korea and is acknowledged as a prominent center for Humanities Education in Asia. The cooperation between UTMN and SU, based on a signed Agreement on Academic Cooperation, provides an opportunity for UTMN students, staff, and faculty members to acquire the best skills in the selected disciplines, enhance their knowledge of the Korean language, and experience Korean culture.
Until recently, academic mobility mainly focused on outbound flows: students from the University of Tyumen participated in summer schools and other short‑term programmes. In autumn 2026, the situation changed – Korean student Kim Haesong has become the first student within the framework of "Semester at UTMN" since the start of the program. UTMN aims to expand the number of students from all over the world through academic mobility programs and to strengthen cooperation with the leading universities of Eastern and Southeast Asian regions.
