TPU students will develop their soft skills at a training camp supported by the Priority 2030 programme

Tomsk Polytechnic University students will take part in a soft skills development project in the format of a training camp. During intensive training in a business game format, they will learn how to work in a team, make non-standard decisions and gain experience in complex management issues. The project is implemented as part of the educational policy of the Priority 2030 development programme.

The first stream of training - 180 students and employees of TPU Engineering School of Natural Resources - will start on October 24 in the university's sports complex (4 Karpova St.). A team of external experts headed by a professional business trainer, author and leader of training projects "Social Technologies Club", "High Technologies Management Club", "Personnel Corps" Larisa Davydova will work with students.

The participants of the first stream will be first-year students of the "Oil and Gas Business" stream as well as second-year students of the "Ecology and Nature Management" stream and "Applied Geology" and "Geological Exploration Technologies" specialities. The second stream will be held on October 28-30 and will cover 180 students from different schools of Tomsk Polytechnic University," says project initiator Artem Boyev, director of TPU Engineering School of Natural Resources.
The training camp will act as a game state with its own legislation, legislative, executive and judicial powers, real production facilities, businesses, banks and stock exchanges, power structures and taxes, electoral system and media, currency and other attributes. Citizens of the "state" will be the trainees undergoing training.

The students will be assigned to several game states, forming the institutions of state and regional government, the manufacturing, commercial and financial sectors. On the territory of the training camp there will be a game law according to which the participants will act. The game time will be divided into study time, work time and rest period. During the study time students will attend lectures and trainings and receive a small stipend in game currency. During working hours, they will work in the public, public and private sectors, earning wages, entrepreneurial profits or unemployment benefits, and holding local and state elections.
