This year, 100 foreign applicants completed pre-university training at Tomsk Polytechnic University

Tomsk Polytechnic University hosted a graduation ceremony for students of the preparatory department — citizens of 32 countries. During the year, they studied Russian and a number of specialty related subjects in order to continue their studies at Tomsk Polytechnic University and other Russian universities. Graduates of the department were awarded certificates of successful completion of the course.

Thus, 100 people completed their pre-university training. They were participants from China, Mongolia, Myanmar, Niger, Rwanda and other countries. Most graduates of the preparatory department of the School of Social Sciences plan to continue their studies within the bachelor's, master's and postgraduate programs at Tomsk Polytechnic University.

"This academic year has passed very quickly for us. During this time, we had everything: funny and sad, good and not so good. But you coped with everything: you studied, you tried, you made new friends, you got to know a new culture. Believe me, that's no small feat. I sincerely congratulate you all on the graduation from the preparatory department. You are great fellows, we are very proud of you!", — Marina Nebera, head of the Preparatory Department of TPU, addressed the graduates.

Training at the Preparatory Department begins on October 1 and ends at the end of June. It starts with an intensive Russian language course, after which specialty related subjects such as physics, mathematics, chemistry and others are added.

"You had a lot of subjects this year. Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering Graphics, History, Social Studies, Biology — they were all in Russian. And you will continue your further studies in Russian, too. I really hope that today will not be the last time we meet. We are always glad to see you at Tomsk Polytechnic University", — Evgenia Sherina, Head of the Russian Language Department at TPU, addressed the graduates.

Training at the Preparatory Department of the School of Social Sciences is designed in such a way that students master the program that allows them to enroll in any university in Russia and study within the principal educational programs in Russian.

Thus, Mechatronics and Robotics, Computer Science and Computer Engineering, Oil and Gas Engineering are among the popular fields of study at Tomsk Polytechnic University for which students of the Preparatory Department plan to apply. This year, foreign applicants choose Electric Power and Electrical Engineering as a postgraduate program to study.

Today, Tomsk Polytechnic University has over 2,800 international students from 58 countries. Most of the students are from Ghana, Egypt, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia, Rwanda, and Uzbekistan. International students from near and far abroad study at all TPU educational program tracks. Training is in Russian, and some of the programs are in English.
