80 students from China learn Russian and get to know Tomsk at TPU Summer Schools
Tomsk Polytechnic University hosts traditional Summer Schools for students from Chinese partner universities. The program for 80 participants from four Chinese universities includes not only classes in Russian and other disciplines, but also an insight into Tomsk Polytechnic University, Tomsk and Russian culture.
This year, the Summer Schools are held in three streams, the participants are divided into five groups. These are students from Shenyang Polytechnic University, including those from the TPU International Engineering Institute and Shenyang Polytechnic University co-education program, Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences, Donghua University and Henan University of Science and Technology.
"27 first- and second-year students from Henan University of Science and Technology came to us for the first time under the joint educational program Automation of Technological Processes and Production. The program "Engineering Summer at TPU: from Russian Language and Culture to Robotics" has been arranged for them together with the Engineering School of Information Technology and Robotics. This is their first time in Russia, so the program is aimed at getting to know the University, the city, and our culture. Accompanied by Marina Bokhonnaya, Associate Professor of the Russian Language Department, they visit the campus, academic buildings, and iconic places in Tomsk, such as Voskresenskaya Hill, Lagerny Garden, and Novo-Sobornaya Square, and get acquainted with cultural peculiarities at thematic workshops. In addition, the program includes laboratory workshops on automation and robotics", — says Evgeniya Kapelyushnik, Associate Professor of the Russian Language Department at the TPU School of Social Sciences.
Moreover, students of Shenyang Polytechnic University studying within the joint with TPU bachelor's program "2 + 2" are taking part in the Summer School "Russian as a Foreign Language for Professional and Academic Purposes" in the area of "Mechanical Engineering", "Automation of Technological Processes and Production", "Electronics and Nanoelectronics", "Instrument Engineering". And students of the International Engineering Institute of TPU and Shenyang Polytechnic University for the joint education of students are participating in the program "Siberian Holidays". It is aimed at improving the level of Russian language proficiency and preparing for studies at Tomsk Polytechnic University.
A Summer School "Russian as a Foreign Language for Professional and Academic Purposes" in the field of "Materials Science and Technology" has been arranged for the students of the joint with TPU 2+2 program from Chongqing University of Arts and Science and Donghua University.
