Moscow Polytechnic University has announced the launch of a new large-scale project, “Around the World Together,” aimed at strengthening intercultural ties. The initiative, developed by the university’s International Office, will serve as a platform for learning about the traditions and history of countries represented by both international students and Russian students.
As part of the project, a series of events is planned, involving experts from various fields—representatives of the students’ home countries.
“Today, students from 79 countries around the world are studying at Moscow Polytechnic University. The ‘Together Around the World’ project will give students the opportunity to showcase their countries’ cultures, while allowing Russian students to take a ‘mini-trip’ without leaving the country,” said Yulia Davydova, Vice Rector for International Affairs.
“Students from all over the world study at our university, and, of course, our main goal is to create a harmonious intercultural environment, turning diversity into common ground. It is especially important that international students not only introduce Russian students to the traditions of their peoples but also immerse themselves in the culture of their host country, feeling like part of a single university community,” said Alina Andrukh, Head of the International Office.
The format of the events can vary widely: from interactive lectures, quizzes, and trivia contests to large-scale cultural festivals, roundtable discussions, and national holidays, and so on. Anyone interested will not only be able to learn about another country but also become an active participant in cultural dialogue.
The project kicked off the “Eastern Light” festival organized by Vietnamese students in Moscow, which took place in late February at Moscow Polytechnic University. In the coming weeks, the project will host new events featuring international students and invited guests from India, Turkey, and Nigeria, where participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the traditions, history, and unique characteristics of these regions.
