Iranian Culture Day at MGSU: Oriental Tales and a Kaleidoscope of Traditions

Moscow State University of Civil Engineering (MGSU) hosted an Iranian Culture Day, which served as a true gateway to the world of Persian traditions, poetry, and hospitality. The event, organized by the MGSU Interclub, turned into a true immersion into the world of Eastern fairy tales, ancient traditions, and incredible hospitality.

The introduction to Iranian culture began with a screening of a short film about Iran. The majestic mountains, bustling bazaars, and modern streets of Tehran set the right tone for everyone. Then the participants learned how those very mirrored mosques and turquoise domes are constructed, and discovered the secrets of Iranian architects: from the mathematical precision of the patterns to the play of light that transforms an ordinary building into a kaleidoscope. Engaging games were organized for the students, helping them experience the spirit of Iranian youth and the country’s atmosphere.

One of the most interesting moments was learning about Persian calligraphy. Each participant discovered how their name is written in Farsi. The ornate script transformed ordinary names into true works of art. The colorful event concluded with a traditional Iranian fortune-telling ritual based on the poems of Hafiz. This ancient tradition (Fal-e Hafiz) allowed everyone to receive their own personal poetic message.

Iranian Culture Day was not just an event, but a bridge between hearts. We realized that we have far more in common than differences: respect for our elders, a love of poetry, and the joy of simply spending time together over a cup of tea.

The organizers thank all participants and believe that such gatherings are an investment in a world without borders. The next series of events, dedicated to the cultures of other countries, is already being planned. Iran has become a little closer, more understandable, and warmer to us. Thank you to everyone who came and experienced its Eastern charm!
