Plekhanov University and Myanmar Space Agency sign cooperation Memorandum during Kremlin Summit

During high-level negotiations at the Kremlin today, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with President Min Aung Hlaing of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, who is on an official visit to Russia.

The two leaders discussed bilateral cooperation in the fields of economics and security, as well as the further development and expansion of state-to-state relations. Following the meeting, a number of documents were signed.

"Scientific, academic, youth, tourism, and sports exchanges are expanding, and this is directly facilitated by the visa-free regime between our nations," President Putin stated.

The Russian delegation at the talks included Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov, Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk, Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov, Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov, Minister of Energy Sergei Tsivilev, and Deputy Minister of Defense Vasily Osmakov.

As part of the official program, Rector Ivan Lobanov of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Myanmar's Space Agency. The document was signed on behalf of the Myanmar Space Agency by its Chief Executive Officer, Dr. So Myint Maung.

"The signing of the Memorandum with the Myanmar Space Agency is of great significance for us – it is another step towards strengthening the friendship between our countries and expanding the geography of our partnership. I am confident that the strong scientific and technological base of Plekhanov University will prove valuable for effective international collaborations in science and education," said Ivan Lobanov, Rector of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.

Under the agreement, the parties plan to facilitate academic exchanges for students and faculty, develop joint educational programs, and implement scientific and educational projects in areas including satellite technology, data analytics, information technology, computer science and engineering, cybersecurity, and human capacity development and research.

Furthermore, the fruitful partnership will include the organization of conferences, seminars, and training courses.

Dr. So Myint Maung also emphasized the significant importance and great prospects of friendship and partnership with Plekhanov University.
