FEFU

Far Eastern Federal University

University, founded in 1899 in Vladivostok, is one of the largest universities in the Russian Far East and the only one in the country with direct access to the Pacific Ocean for research in ocean sciences. The university is located on Russky Island in a campus built for the 2012 APEC Summit, with its own embankment and a direct view of the Russky Bridge.

Кey facts

Far Eastern Federal University is one of the largest and leading higher education institutions not only in the Russian Far East, but in the whole country as well.

The Campus Is a City of Its Own
FEFU's campus on Russky Island covers more than one million square meters, with over 30,000 people there every day. It has its own extreme sports park, a world-class basketball cluster, a welding laboratory and even a phygital center with VR and drone racing — so student life is not limited to classes and dorms.
One in Five Students Is International
More than 22,000 students study at FEFU, and roughly one in five of them comes from another country. This is not abstract "internationality" but a real environment: you are surrounded by people from China, India and dozens of other countries, and competition for some programs among international applicants reaches 8 people per place.
Students Launch Satellites
FEFU has its own satellites, "Vladivostok-1" and "Vladivostok-2": the first has been transmitting data on solar radiation since November 2024 and helps predict magnetic storms, while the second monitors climate and "space weather" for Roshydromet. For applicants, this means you can literally work with space while still a student.
