The British edition of Times Higher Education (THE) published updated results of the leading ranking of world universities Times Higher Education World University Rankings. The representation of Russian higher education has increased – the number of Russian universities in the institutional ranking has increased from 39 to 48 compared to last year.

Despite Challenges, Fair Proportion of Students Have Come to Prefer Online Education
While many students readily embraced online learning, there were also many students who found it more difficult to complete their coursework due to technical difficulties. First-year students had the hardest time adapting to the new format, and low-income students also encountered many challenges. These are some of the findings of a survey conducted as part of a joint project between the Institute of Education, the Centre for Institutional Research, and the Institute of Distance Education of Tomsk State University.

NSU MA Graduate Research Helps Assess Poverty in Zambia
Owen Siyoto, an MA graduate of the Big Data Analytics & Artificial Intelligence Program at the NSU Mechanics and Mathematics Department, completed a thesis applying the learning transfer and ridge regression concepts to satellite imagery to predict poverty in Zambia. He assessed the Zambia Welfare Index using survey data, satellite imagery, and machine learning methods and yielded results comparable to similar work done in other countries.

QS includes 3 universities-organizers of the Open Doors in Inaugural Engineering – Petroleum Ranking
Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a UK-based global provider of services and analytics to higher education institutions, has increased the number of its subject rankings to 51, adding Engineering – Petroleum, Geology, and Geophysics to the list. The inaugural Engineering – Petroleum league table features three universities-organizers of the Olympiad.

QS Rankings by Faculty and Subject place Open Doors organizing universities among the world's best
On March 4, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a UK-based global higher education company released the latest edition of the World University Rankings by Faculty and Subject. A total of 22 Russian universities, including 13 Open Doors Olympiad organizers, feature in the faculty ranking.

The registration for the second round of Olympiad is closed
The second round, just like the first one, is held online. The participants take the Olympiad exam while supervised by a specialist. They’ll have 3 hours to complete the tasks.

The wait is over! We’ve published the lists of participants who pass to stage 2 of the Open Doors after the evaluation of the portfolios. -
The registration for Open Doors Olympiad is closed
On December 18, the registration for Open Doors-2020 Olympiad closed. Overall number of participants is 35 229 (1,5 times more than last year). They come from 191 countries (28 more than last year) and have completed 48 083 portfolios (78% more than last year).
